The Scene : the mid-70's, in Indore. Several of the cinema theatres have no parking lots, so streetside entrepreneurs take the chance to run cycle stands on areas of pavement, right in front of the theatre. This makes for serious price competition between them.
A particularly large group of students has almost arrived at an agreement with one of these: They will pay 2 Rupees to park 8 cycles in one such 'parking lot', and have it looked after by a grinning old man. The group is in a hurry, because the show of 'Jewel Thief' is about to start, and they've heard that the suspense begins right from the first scene.
Just then a young kid walks over to them and announces that they can keep their cycles at his lot for just Rs 1.50...The group begin to walk their cycles over to this interruptor. The old man is enraged at this loss of business : 'O Bhiya, baat apni ho chuki hai...tum yahi par saikal lagaaogey!'
The group takes no notice; they are getting a better deal at the other place, after all. The old man tries again, ' Achcha theek hai, Pauney-do rupaiye de dena...Arrey ruko to!...theek hai bhiya, chalo dedh rupaye hi de do....Idhar aao!' The group does not turn back. Finally, frustrated, he yells at them,'Ek minute, baat suno. Ek minute, bhiya, ek minute!' and runs over to them. Then making sure he has their full attention, he says, Suno. Meri baat suno.
'Ashok Kumar hi Jewel thief hai...Ab jaao wahan saikal lagaa do saalon!'
